Victoria Native Friendship Center
Building a digital home for community connection
Overview
We partnered with the Victoria Native Friendship Centre (VNFC) to design and build a modern, welcoming website that reflects their mission, values, and deep connection to the community. The new site serves as a central hub for programs, services, and cultural initiatives—helping VNFC share stories, resources, and opportunities with members and partners across Vancouver Island.
The Challenge
VNFC needed a website that could unify their many programs and services under one accessible platform, while authentically representing Indigenous voices and visual identity. The challenge was to combine functionality, accessibility, and cultural storytelling in a single digital space.

OUR APPROACH
Supporting local Indigenous artists was a key part of this collaboration. Together with VNFC, we commissioned artists to create custom artwork for the website and digital channels—each contributing seven original pieces that bring warmth, meaning, and authenticity to the online experience. Beyond the initial launch, M1 continues to work closely with VNFC through an ongoing partnership, providing monthly updates, technical support, and content management to keep the site aligned with the Centre’s evolving needs. We also produce video content as requested, capturing community events, producing educational pieces, and supporting communications across digital platforms.
Partnership
Our partnership with VNFC goes beyond project delivery. We act as an ongoing creative and technical partner, ensuring their digital presence continues to grow alongside their community impact. Each update, story, and visual addition is made in collaboration, keeping VNFC’s mission and voice at the heart of every decision.
Results
The new VNFC website has improved accessibility and engagement across all audiences, with increased traffic, better navigation, and stronger alignment between digital storytelling and community goals.
